First of many entries to our dev diary. Firstly I would like to write up about webapp. This was a spontaneous project that I have been working on quietly and did not expect it to be some what ready for early access.
Why did I make it?
Ah so I found that sometimes I cannot be bothered to boot up my PC just do do few bits for my airline or even when I am at work (shhhh). So I created a quick portal just for my self and then I thought... bit unfair that I can do it. I started it about a month ago. Small little project that I did not expect to actually be really useful.
webApp has a very basic layout. I do not want anything fancy for now. I believe in getting the features in there before we apply glitter on it to make it. For now, it just works.
Home screen for your airline at the moment is a bit boring, over time I will come up with some cool ideas how I can display it to make it look much better.
Routes page currently shows your routes. You can open a route and soon you will be able to view finances for the route, look at all flight logs for that route, edit the route and close the route. I am waiting to see how the economy 0.6 as I have some cool ideas for economy 2.0.
Look at your fleet from a different perspective. You can see your aircrafts status, if its in flight it will show who is flying and the route they are taking. Condition of the aircraft is displayed to you and how much it will cost to fix it.
Employee screen will show you some information you need right now. In the future you will be able to promote, fire and even contact your pilots directly. New server side code improves flight counting, profit made, rep earned, total airtime in your company and future updates will bring ability to view their flight logs.
AI Crew can be managed from the webapp. From looking at what they are flying to actually starting an AI crew. No longer will you need to start up your PC just to send out your minions to earn some money. Do it whilst you're at work, shopping with your partner or even taking a long sh.......
Contract screen will show you active contracts, available contracts and you can even get contracts from the web page. For now in 0.5, you can get a round trip contract generated from the webpage directly. Currently not available in the flyLAT application... why, we are testing it still. Oh in the screenshot you can already see a milk run job... thats a 0.51 updated btw lol
Generating a contract has never been simpler... 3 clicks and you got yourself a job ;-)
You can even see your transaction all from your phone... see if your airline is making money or making a huge loss... boy I cannot wait to show you what we have in store for you for 0.6
Anyway, thank you for reading this quick post about webapp. Across this week, I will be posting more info on flyLAT 0.5, how we got here and what is on the horizon for beyond 0.5!
